Snacks/Water Bottles

We will have snack time during the day before our first recess.  Please make sure your child comes to school with a healthy snack that does not require an eating utensil. Our snack time is only 10 minutes and I want to make sure each child gets time to eat. Examples of acceptable classroom snacks include; granola bars, trail mix, fruit, fruit snacks, carrots, snack packs, etc...  (Snacks are not provided by the school or the teacher). Please no cheetos or Takis.

Please ensure your child brings a water bottle to class each day. Please write your child's name on the water bottle and make sure it is tightly sealed. Students will be able to keep their water bottles at their desk. The classroom is also equipped with a drinking fountain if they need to fill up or if they forget their water bottle)

(Please NO juices or colored liquids)

Birthdays

We love to celebrate birthdays in the classroom! To minimize distractions during the school day, we will celebrate all birthdays during the last 20 minutes of class time. You may send in birthday treats with your child the morning of his or her birthday. Treats must be store bought and easy to pass out. Examples include; cupcakes, cookies, rice krispy treats, etc... Please no nuts as we have an allergy in our classroom.

(Please NO cakes, ice cream, or pizza)

Homework/Test Grading

Homework is given on a daily basis.  Math: Your child will be responsible for completing any math problems that were not done during the day. Spelling: Spelling practice will be Monday - Wednesday. Thursday will be a spelling pretest at home. School spelling test will be given on Friday's. Your student will also be given a fluency passage to read each night Monday - Wednesday. There will be comprehension questions that need to be turned in on Friday's.  Math homework is due on a daily basis. Spelling/Fluency is due each Friday. Points will be deducted each day that homework is turned in late.

Test retakes - Your child will be given a chance to retake spelling, math, and reading tests if needed. You will receive a copy of the original test so that you can help your child study. Students will be given the higher grade of the two tests. Retakes will be given the following week after the original.

Jupiter Grades

Please check Jupiter grades regularly. This is the best way to track your child's progress. You will have access to each graded assignment , missing work, and tests as well as an overall grade for each subject.
